Kitty Picspam

Well, Chelsea seems to be eating a bit, but still won't go near medicine, no matter how I try to disguise it as people food. Needless to say, I am feeling rather pissed/frustrated/annoyed/sadface at my kitty right now, so I thought a little picspam would remind me how cute she is when she's not spitting medicine at me. :)

Responsible kitty pays the bills.

Giving me the evil eye. Kitty doesn't like getting her picture taken.

"What? It's comfortable."

Well, where do you store your spare kitty?

The saga of medicating my cat

My darling little furball started sneezing on Monday, and when it hadn't gone away by Thursday, I took her to the vet. Turns out she most likely has feline herpes, and now we are going through the usual song and dance routine to get her to take her meds. I have learned from past mistakes and opted NOT for drugs in pill form when the vet gave me the options. One of them (Lysine) comes as treats, which started out okay. I put a few in her dish Thursday night and she gobbled them right up. But she's refused to eat anymore since then despite coating them in cream cheese (I dunno, it was the vet's advice), soaking them in milk, or mixing them with tuna.

Medicine number two (antibiotic), on the other hand... oy. It's a liquid that I'm supposed to feed her via dropper. The first dose wasn't so bad, once I'd bribed her with catnip so she'd even come close to me (she knows when something's up), chased her around the apartment a few times, finally tackled her and squished her between my legs while trying to pry her mouth open, and only spilled a little bit on my carpet. :\ Friday morning... well, I sort of squirted it in her face by accident (OMG NOT MY FAULT SHE WOULDN'T STOP WRIGGLING!), which makes it highly unlikely she'll ever let me try THAT again. I tried mixing this one with tuna, too, but no dice. Wouldn't even go near it. She spent most of yesterday hiding under the bed, and pretty much runs away every time I come close to her, so I'm thinking there will be no more medicating until she's less traumatized.

Meanwhile, I have been nursing a cold of my own. The sore throat started last weekend and progressed into full-on nasal congestion over the course of the week. I have gone through an obscene amount of tissues. And I'm only a little ashamed to admit that when Chelsea started sneezing, I thought, "Is it possible for cats to get human colds?" Our new nicknames are Sneezy and Sniffles.

However, I did get a new camera recently (actually, it's a hand-me-down from my parents, and my mother took the liberty of taking pictures of herself and Patches before she gave it to me. "I knew you'd want them," she said), and have been taking pictures of Chelsea being adorable, so expect another kitty picspam soon.

Yep, you guessed it...

Another snow day. Got an email from GW, and they have adopted the term "snowpocalypse," so you know it must be serious. Meanwhile, a flock of crows have taken shelter in the tree outside my window, and it is driving Chelsea craaaaa-zeeeee. She is hopping from window to window, meowing furiously (although sometimes it sounds more like a pathetic "Mommy, do something!" whine), while the birds blissfully ignore her.

Speaking of crazy, guess what Chuck shippers are up to. If you're just joining us, the latest development in the Chuck/Sarah forbidden love tale has both of them being paired up with other people (oh the horrors). Chuck's hooking up with fellow Nerd Herder Hannah, while Sarah's showing some attraction to fellow spy Shaw. (Weirdly, both love interests are played by Superman alums - Kristin Kreuk from Smallville and Brandon Routh from Superman Returns.)

I personally am not terribly invested in Chuck/Sarah. Yes, they're obviously meant for each other, but I'm in no hurry to get there. On the occasions when I wish they would just get together already, it's usually because they're pushing the "we can't be together" angst over the top (as they did in the first few eps of the season), and not out of any particular desire to see them consummate their love. I don't have any problems with this newest obstacle - I actually like Hannah, which is a little bit of a shock, given that I generally avoid anything (or anyone) Smallville-related like the plague. It seems a little weird to me that Sarah and Shaw would want a relationship, given that they both have a "spies don't fall in love" rule. Granted, Sarah's spent the entire run of the show breaking that rule with Chuck, but specifically because of that, I'd expect her to tread more cautiously here.

Still, I'm willing to sit back and see where the show takes this. Crazy-cakes shippers, on the other hand, seem to think this has absolutely ruined the show for good, and one "fan" even suggested a boycott so that low ratings force the writers to get Chuck and Sarah together. Alan Sepinwall explains why this is completely idiotic. He also talks to the show creators about the controversy, which only seems to emphasize how much the fans are overreacting. I swear to God, if my shiny show gets canceled because whiny Charah fans executed a completely useless boycott, HEADS WILL ROLL.

*sneaks in quietly*

Maybe no one will notice I was gone. Eh?

Sorry for the lack of updates. Chelsea is fine, btw. She only took about a third of her medicine, though, so it's a good thing her bladder issue went away on its own. I am psyching myself up for another trip to the vet for the shots she was supposed to get the first time we went to the vet, but which had to be postponed until her bladder thing went away.

Work has been alternately crazy busy and very, very slow. Or, rather, it was crazy busy right up until Tuesday, when my boss left for vacation, and it's been party time ever since. :) I've been catching up on the Daily Show, since I'm now an 80-year-old woman and go to bed at 9:30. (Seriously, I did that one day this week.)

I had a fun-filled weekend last weekend, by certain definitions of the word "fun-filled." Friday was my mother's birthday, so I (the good daughter) called to wish her a happy birthday. While on the phone, my dad says, "Remember how we talked about coming to visit this weekend?"

Uh... no, actually.

"Well, we're coming."

Oh, goody.

But tough noogies, because I had plans for Friday night and I wasn't canceling. I still hadn't seen Becky since I moved, and she only lives SEVEN MILES away. Keep that number in mind. So, we decided I'd drive over to her apartment, and we'd order pizza and watch movies (The Usual Suspects and Dr. Horrible) and play with her new kitty. I Google-mapped, Becky corrected the Google map directions, and I brought along my trusty GPS.

Forty-five minutes and four U-turns later, I arrived at Becky's house. Forty-five minutes. To go seven miles.

I hate driving in this city.

We're not even going to discuss the drive home, which happened of course at 1am, when it was completely dark and I couldn't see street signs or my directions, not that it mattered, because I arrived there on one-way streets, so I had to go in several circles in order to find the way back, and the GPS was NO HELP, because it kept telling me to turn on streets I was ALREADY ON, and telling me to turn on streets that didn't exist and... okay, I guess we are going to discuss it.

Anyway, I got up early on Saturday to clean my apartment, in the futile hope that my mother would criticize it less, and then my parents arrived half an hour early, while I was in the shower. We spent the weekend putting up curtains, assembling my new headboard, hanging pictures on the wall, and shopping for a mat to go underneath Chelsea's litter box. Fun-filled, let me tell you. Then there was the whole thing with it being my mother's birthday, except of course I didn't know they were coming, so I wasn't prepared with, like, a cake or presents or anything, which I think was disappointing, but hello - advance notice, people!

So, this weekend, a friend of mine is coming to visit from New York, and next weekend, Megan and I are going home to see James Marsters!

My cat is smarter than me

Remember last week, I mentioned Chelsea had a trip to the vet? Well, she came home with medication, and has been tormenting me ever since. Baby does not want to take her pills!

The first dose went down really easy - I was making myself tuna for dinner, so I just gave her the pill in a little bit of tuna and she gobbled it up. The next morning, I tried wrapping it in ham, and then cheese, but she ignored me, so finally I broke down and opened another can of tuna just so she'd take the pill.

Well, as it turns out, two doses is how long it takes before she catches on to my evil plan. That night, she just licked the tuna off and left the pill. I tried just holding her down and sticking the pill in her mouth, but she refused to swallow, and I felt like a mean person straddling the poor thing with my hand clamped over her mouth. But no matter how long I held her there, she'd spit the pill out as soon as I let her go. No amount of throat-massaging would get it to go down.

So, we missed three doses in pursuit of those efforts, then I went to PetSmart and bought Pill Pockets, which are these little snacky things that you put the pill inside and close it up and they're supposed to eat the whole thing. "Supposed to" being the operative phrase there. Again, we got two doses down like that before she started sucking on it until the snacky part dissolved and spat the pill back out.

Then, last night, I tried cracking open the gelcap and pouring the powder directly into the Pill Pocket, so she couldn't eat around it. Well, she just ignored it. This morning, again, opened the gelcap, and this time mixed the powder with a little tuna, which she refused to eat.

My last hope is the pill popper, but I haven't been able to find one in a store.

I give up! Megggggannnnn, you're the animal expert - how do you get them to take their pills?

My poor baby!

Had to take Chelsea to the vet today - she's been using the litter box way more frequently than usual, and only leaving quarter-sized pee clumps for the last week or so, and the other day we had a little piddly-on-the-sofa incident. (But she's still my very good girl and it's not her fault she's sick.) We had an appointment for her vaccines on Friday, but I pestered them to see her right away because I don't want her to be in pain, and I'd prefer no more piddly incidents. I thought it might be a urinary infection, but it turns out it's an inflamed bladder. She spent the day at the vet, but I'll pick her up when I get home from work.

In other news, work is going well. I really like the new job. It keeps me pretty busy, and I get to go to enough meetings that I'm not stuck in the office all day. The issues are interesting, and I think it's going to be pretty fun. One of the more headache-inducing things we're working on is health care (and that op-ed explains why the headache), most of which goes over my head. I just sit in the task force meetings and nod.

Fun with politics link for the day - be glad you don't live in New Jersey. (And people wonder why I didn't want to work there...)

You could just shoot me. That'd be simpler...

Moving is HARD. This is quite possibly the most stressful thing I have ever done.

Spent the second weekend in a row apartment-hunting in DC with my parents. We did actually manage to find something, but not before completely exceeding our quota of U-turns (DC apparently causes our GPS to have schizophrenic episodes) and giving me a headache that lasted 36 hours.

But! I did find a place, in Arlington - it's on S. Glebe Rd. right near the Army Navy Country Club, if anyone's familiar with landmarks - and it's very nice. Don't even ask what my rent is, but the apartment was recently renovated and so the kitchen's got pretty granite countertops and cherry cabinets. My mother is jealous that I'll now have a nicer kitchen than she does. :)

My last day of work here is July 2nd, and I'm moving out July 3rd. I have not started packing yet, although I did just get rid of an entire suitcase full of clothes I don't want. (And we're talking the huge, 3-weeks-in-Europe suitcase.) Just looking at it all makes me feel exhausted.

We have a minor snafu with the kitty, in that I never actually told the leasing office that I have one, and they have to come in for the walk-through inspection before I leave. So I'll need to find a place to stash Chelsea for a day - hopefully Christi will be around.

Chelsea seems to be getting slightly freaked out by all the stuff going on - when I left last weekend with the huge suitcase, I thought she was going to run after me. But she seems to enjoy jumping in the empty boxes and pulling the labels off them.

*collapses*

Wake me up when it's moving day.

I have a weird life

Went to McGrath's last night with Jade and saw pirates. Also met a chick from Estonia who kept grabbing Jade's boobs, until her boyfriend dragged her away all, "Uh, sorry for the intrusion." She also danced on a table (the Estonian chick, not Jade). Ah, Europeans. No sense of boundaries.

Today, there was a bug crawling around on the carpet, and Chelsea, who hates bugs, was meowing frantically and giving me a pitiful look. I was all, "No, you kill it!" (It was a big bug.) After letting her stalk it all around the living room and swat at it unsuccessfully, I finally intervened and killed the thing. My cat is a terrible hunter.

Also, anyone want to go on a cruise to Alaska? If we go next week, it's only $499.

Kitty Christmas

Chelsea had been lurking around the refrigerator a lot today, so I broke down and got out the flashlight to see what she'd lost under there this time. Imagine my surprise when I found a WHOLE STASH of kitty toys under the fridge. Like, more toys than I knew she had. Granted, I'd noticed that they were disappearing pretty quickly, and I was finding a lot less in the sofa cushions than would account for all of them, but still. Kind of a shocking sight.

So, I got out a clothes hanger and got down on my belly and fished out as much junk as I could. Final tally: 23 fuzzy balls, 13 mice, 4 bottle caps, 1 plastic ball, a twistie tie, and a Klondike bar wrapper. And that's not even counting the stuff I couldn't reach.

After sorting through and tossing out the ones that were too grody for Chelsea to be sticking in her mouth (and yes, we are talking about an animal who licks her own ass), we now have cat toys scattered all over my living room floor. It looks like a pet store exploded.

In other news: Baby! Squee!

How many shopping days left?

Annnnd, we're off! My dad already bought himself his first Christmas present - a GPS, which does not seem to speak English as its first language. I thought something was up when the instructions were written with British spellings, but worse than that, it doesn't know abbreviations - it calls streets "saint" (St.) and it calls drives "doctor" (Dr.)!

Awe. Some.

No, thank you, Daddy. I don't want one for Christmas. I want one that works, please.

I'm sure I will be posting soon asking for gift-giving advice for all the difficult people in my life. Likewise, if you'd like a Christmas card from me (and you'd like it before February), shoot me your address or, for those of you with addresses in multiple states, which address you're most likely to be getting mail at in mid-to-late December.

Before we go full-tilt into the next holiday, my Thanksgiving was okay. Too much food. Lots of leftovers. Patches likes me again. (She's really quite friendly as long as you don't try to touch her.)

Once again, my parents took advantage of me being home for Thanksgiving and got out all the Christmas decorations and put up the tree, which Patches did not try to climb this year. We also baked cookies on Saturday, but I think we're getting too good at it, because I was having to break some on purpose in order to be allowed to eat any.

Chelsea was very happy to see me when I got home - and wonder of wonders, had NOT knocked her water bowl over. Victory! *does happy dance* Now, of course, the new challenge is getting her not to eat the Christmas tree.

Big links post coming up!

Open to suggestions

Or I might just carve a dent in a block of cement.

We started with a regular plastic bowl that was always meant to be temporary. Then we went to plastic bowl with rubber no-slip bottom, which I discovered is only helpful if your cat swats at the bowl, but doesn't prevent sticking her whole paw in the bowl and flipping it sideways.

Then we moved up to this, which I thought surely she couldn't knock over. It weighs over 2 lbs. when full! Foolish assumption.

Next was this, which is what my parents use for Patches. I was hesitant about the ceramic, because if she breaks it, then we'll have bloody kitty paws from walking around in the broken pieces. But it's heavy and has the no-slide grip thing on the bottom, so I thought surely, surely it would work. Flipped completely upside down, landed a foot away from where I left it. But at least it didn't break...

Next step: filling the sink up with water.

So fucking pissed right now

The little shit just knocked over her FOURTH water bowl. And she so kindly waited until I'd JUST FILLED IT so there was maximum water spillage for me to clean up. Well, you know what? FUCK YOU CAT. I'm not giving her any more water. She can lick it off the fucking floor.

And I'm still leaving her here for Thanksgiving. If she gets dehydrated because she spills all her water, well TOO FUCKING BAD.

Just checking in...

...because when I don't, people start asking me if I'm dead. I had a nice loooong weekend, since we had Tuesday off for Veterans' Day, and I took a sick day Monday. I went home for my dad's birthday on Friday, did lots of shopping (four pairs of shoes!), and then my parents put me to work raking the leaves in the backyard. Apparently, I'm still not old enough to drive the tractor. :( I think my dad just has too much fun to give it up. I came back with lots of leftovers, though, so it's all good.

On Monday, I had a doctor's appointment at Lankenau, and then met my grandmother for lunch at my aunt and uncle's luncheonette place. I came home to find one dehydrated kitty, since Chelsea had proceeded to knock over both bowls of water that I left for her (even though one of them was the big water jug that weighs two pounds when full, meaning she probably had to throw her whole body against it to tip that fucker over). I am now worried about leaving her alone for Thanksgiving, so I'll be out shopping for yet another even heavier bowl.

Megan came to visit me on Tuesday (yay!) and she passed the kitty inspection, which means we're allowed to stay friends. (So far, no one has failed kitty inspection except Patches - Chelsea will love pretty much any person who likes to cuddle.) We went to the Whitaker Center, partly because it would be embarrassing if I'd lived her for two years and never gone, and saw Madagascar 2 on the IMAX. (Not as good as the first one, but still funny. Also, I want a penguin.)

Today, I managed to do a startlingly little amount of work, since I was at an EPLC breakfast forum until 10:30, and I'd only been at my desk for an hour when the fire alarm went off. (Seriously, if it's not my apartment building, it's the office building. Must... stick to... lower... floors...) Then a task force meeting from 1-2:30, where sadly no fistfights broke out, but I'm hopeful for the December session.

I am woefully behind on my TV watching - I think I have 2 episodes of Life to watch, plus last week's Dirty Sexy Money and this week's HIMYM and Fringe. I'm losing interest in Life on Mars.

Leaky kitty

Was a little concerned last night when Chelsea appeared to have a leakage problem, dripping saliva from her mouth. I tried calling the vet, but they were already closed, so I settled for Google, which led me to believe it was probably a a tooth/gum problem. In any case, she was fine this morning, but I called the vet anyway, who said it probably wasn't serious. She probably just scratched her mouth on a bit of food or something. This parenting thing is so nerve-wracking!

In other news, Bradley Whitford is getting a new sitcom, which is awesome since I love him, and was just reminded how much because I was watching election episodes of The West Wing last night. (Shut up, Kelly!) Also WW-related, the New York Times apparently just figured out that this election is similar to the Santos/Vinick election. Dude, where were you back in February?

Jon Hamm is guest-starring on 30 Rock (which I'll probably get around to watching someday).

Dollhouse fans, I think you're being mocked.

My cat is actually useful!

So, we seem to have settled into a nice compromise in the mornings. Chelsea appears to have learned what the alarm clock means, and doesn't wake me up before it goes off. Once it does, though, she's a little pest until I get out of bed. Which is helpful on days like today, when I just wanted to roll over and go back to sleep (and thus be late for work). The only trouble is that we haven't quite worked out the concept of the snooze button yet, so sometimes she pesters when I actually DO want to go back to sleep. We'll keep working on it.

Anyway, let's kick off with more Dr. Horrible stuff, since it's still my favorite thing ever. This blogger has ranked the singers in Dr. Horrible and Buffy's Once More With Feeling. Personally, I think Amber Benson deserves to be above Felicia Day, and Nathan Fillion should probably be switched with Sarah Michelle Gellar (did no one notice how off-key she was in some songs?). Overall, though, not terribly surprising.

Here's the eleventy millionth interview with Joss, and an interview with Tahmoh Penikett about Dollhouse.

Speaking of Tahmoh, word on the streets is that the last half of the last season of Battlestar Galactica will be supersized, although the exact details are sketchy. I can't remember if I posted the Caprica promo yet, so here it is just in case. And finally, an interview with Tricia Helfer, who's now guest starring on Burn Notice. (Sidebar: she should've done the Sweet'n'Low trick JM recommends for bleaching her hair.)

Oh, and this was posted in the comments, but I'm moving it out here for everyone to check out: the animated Buffy series (or at least, the first four minutes of it). There's also an interview with Jane Espenson that hints it may be making a comeback.

Further proof that my cat is retarded...

We discovered a new activity the other day. Staring at the wall. Oh, but not just the wall, see, 'cause that would be silly. No, Chelsea stares at the little spots of light that get reflected off my computer or whatever, or even just patches of sunlight on the wall. (I tormented her for a good ten minutes by holding my hand up to make a shadow and wiggling my fingers.)

Also, she's still opening the kitchen cabinet and walking around under the sink. I'm kind of afraid to keep cleaning stuff under there now, for fear she'll get into it. Do I need to buy those baby-proof locks or something?

Anyway, I've been giving my Blockbuster online a bit of a workout the past couple days, and rented Sweeney Todd and The Last Kiss. Sweeney Todd, I thought I would enjoy a lot more. I mean, Sondheim and Johnny Depp? How could I resist? The music was good, and Johnny was excellent, but gah! Too much blood. Definitely not a musical I need to see over and over (unlike Into the Woods, which I've seen an estimated 6,000 times). It was kind of cool to watch just after Dr. Horrible, though, because I could totally see the influence.

And The Last Kiss... you know, I keep thinking I should like Zach Braff, but his movies are just... blah.

In TV stuff, I've caught up on My Boys, which is a fun, if predictable, summer comedy, in the absence of HIMYM and The Office. But I'm calling it now - Bobby's gonna find out about PJ and Jack, and he's gonna call off the wedding, and then he's going to spend the rest of the season in love with PJ but they're not gonna get together until the season finale. It's all very Ted and Robin.

I also watched The Mole last night. I'm going with Craig as the mole, which will be my, er, 3rd guess. I clearly suck at this game. But I was sure Paul wasn't the mole, and I'm sure Nicole isn't the mole, which only leaves Mark and Craig, and I still maintain that Mark is too psychotic to be the mole. It's funny, now that we're down to three, I really want Nicole to win... and she was the bitch everyone hated in the first episode.

I have more Comic-Con reports to post, but I'll get to that in a bit. Have to make a phone call.

Recovery

Hope everyone had a nice 4th of July. I'm still recovering. I got to see fireworks on Thursday (after the Senator's game) from my window. This was Chelsea's first fireworks experience, and it was pretty adorable. She kept jumping up against the window like she thought she could catch them. More exciting than the bugs, I imagine.

Anyway, Friday I pretty much hung around the house, in case Teresa needed to call me in, until I got the message from her saying "It's over!!!" around 5pm. I watched fireworks again from my window, and then met Jade and this guy from the Obama campaign at McGrath's. When I got there, Jade was already engaged in heated discussion with these two couples who were like, in their 40s. Apparently, the one guy was a Republican, and Jade felt the need to fix that. The other guy was like, "I've been working on him for years, he won't change his mind," but she tried anyway.

As they were leaving, the non-Republican guy pointed out to Alan (the Obama guy) that he was there with two pretty girls (and gave me some lecherous old man compliments... who uses the word "bosom" anyway?) and suggested that he make that work for him. I think this may have impacted how the night ended.

Anyway, after McGrath's, we went to Zembie's, and met another friend of Jade's (who also said I was pretty, and not in a creepy way!). He was 20 and trying to impress us with his ability to get served without being carded, yet not actually ordering any drinks. Poser.

Next stop was Ceolta's, which had a really awesome cover band. At first, we were like, "That's weird... they have one guitarist and two bassists," until we realized that only one guy was actually playing. The other one was completely wasted and just acting like an idiot. But the one who was good was very good, and impressed us all by playing the bass with a beer bottle. (He also did the Jimi Hendrix Star Spangled Banner, as it was the 4th of July.)

Jade left with some guy, leaving Alan and me to close the place down. Then, Alan walked me home, which was nice of him, though probably not entirely selfless on his part. See, there's like, 4 doors to get to my apartment - an outside door, two hallway doors, an elevator, and then my apartment. So, we get to the first door, and I'm like, "okay..." and he keeps following me, all the way to the elevator. And I'm like, "Uh... this is the point at which you need my key to get out." And he totally didn't get it, and was all, "Okay," and just kept hanging out there. So, the elevator comes, and I'm like, "Here, let me let you out before I go up." And then he finally got it.

Saturday was mostly a recovery day, although there were fireworks again. Sunday was a new adventure. I took Chelsea to PetSmart to get her nails clipped. It was a fight, as usual, to get her into the carrier, although I think I've got a system now. She was very well-behaved during the trimming (why is she so much better with other people, but gives me a hard time??), but she made the loudest noises I'd ever heard her make once she was back in the carrier and we were shopping. I bought her a new water bowl, since she's been tipping the other ones. This time, I got one of those watering systems with the water jug that looks like a miniature version of the water cooler in work. I'm all, "HA! Let's see you tip that sucker over!" So far, she hasn't.

Oh, man. I still have Sunday adventures to talk about, but I'm meeting Andrew for lunch, so it'll have to wait....

My cat is psychotic

Chelsea broke the blinds last night. She spotted a bug on the ceiling, and rather than sit on the floor staring up and whining ineffectually like she usually does, she attempted to climb her way to the ceiling to get it. She jumped from the back of the sofa onto the window and clung to the blinds for a second before falling down, almost taking the lamp with her. She’s completely nutso.

Also, she keeps tipping her water bowl. I thought getting the new, heavier, no-sliding bowl would help, but she’s tipping that one, too. So last night, I pulled out the heaviest bowl I could find and put that there, and she STILL spilled water all over the floor. I don’t know what to do, other than glue the damn thing to the floor. I think she tips them – sticks her paw in and tips the bowl sideways until the water sloshes out. I’ve seen her try to do that a couple times. The bowls are usually upright when I check them, but there’s way too much water for her to just be splashing it around.

Anyway, lots of fun stuff today. First, a write-up with some awesome pictures for Dr. Horrible. I'm so in love with this already, and I haven't even seen it. Also Joss-related, an article about the Buffy comics and Buffy's visit to the future.

Apparently, Jane Espenson will be writing the BSG movie that as of yet no one is starring in. And EJO is directing - cool beans.

And finally, why David Tennant is the awesomest person ever.

Monday morning

Well, I hope you all had a good weekend. I went to dinner on Friday with Christi and some med school people, and then went out to Ceolta's with Christi and a LOT of med school people. They just opened up their smoke-free second floor, and it was totally empty, so we just took over and basically had a private party. The music was awful, though - it was like the DJ totally dated us and only played stuff from the early-mid 90s. Seriously, Boyz II Men? Vanilla Ice? That's not even the fun old-school.

Saturday, I saw Christi again (making up for all that time she was studying for boards and wouldn't leave the library), when she and her friends came down to Harrisburg for the Brewer Fest. Christi volunteered to be the designated driver, but they were out of DD tickets, so she couldn't get in. (Yay, Harrisburg, encouraging drunk driving!) So Christi hung out with me while her friends drank beer.

This was Chelsea's first encounter with a stranger (other than my parents, whom she met on the first day, when everything was pretty much terrifying). She did well - she was very friendly and played with Christi on Friday night, but was pretty shy on Saturday. I think it was because it was naptime and she wanted us to leave her alone.

Speaking of Chelsea, I think there must be some kind of "How To Annoy Your Human" handbook that all cats have to read in kitten school or something. She's picking up Patches' habits, and they don't even live together. Patches, in case I haven't mentioned, has developed this charming way of waking my dad up at 4am by swatting everything on his night table onto the floor. Cell phone, glasses, pens, wallet, spare change, you name it, it gets knocked on the floor. Well, now Chelsea is doing the same thing, except I have carpet (my parents have hardwood floors), so it doesn't make as much noise. So I just wake up to a pile of stuff on the floor, while Chelsea proceeds to paw at me. If the swatting stuff doesn't work, she moves on to poking me in the eye with her paw, or tapping my nose. It'd be quite adorable if I didn't want to sleep for another hour.

Anyway, lots of TV stuff today. There's a bizarre clip of Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku on Dollhouse, who appear to be interviewed by the stars of some other show, one of whom is Jerry O'Connell (omg, remember Sliders? I do).

Also, there's a trailer for Christian Kane's new show, Leverage. CK also has a podcast interview from some country radio station, where he plays three new songs. OMG, I love him so much, and I don't even like country music. I would totally marry him if James Marsters were unavailable. :)

This is a little weird - Jack Bauer will be the best-looking 52-year-old ever. 24 is doing another time jump this season, which puts season 7 at 17 years after season 1, where Jack was 35. Yikes.

I've never heard of this show, but I'm glad to see Janel Moloney getting work. She's pretty awesome (and I miss The West Wing!).
