And more good news...

Alyson Hannigan gave birth to a baby girl, and in typical Hollywood fashion, gave her a goofy name.

And in kinda stupid news, 24 gets stuff wrong about DC. Yeah, because we all watch 24 for the realism.

Good news and bad news

The good news is that Friday Night Lights got a two-season pickup, for 26 more episodes. I'm considering getting DirecTV. Also, bonus interview with Zach Gilford.

The bad news is that Andy Hallett (Lorne from "Angel") died of heart disease. So sad.

Yeah...

Yesterday was an interesting day... I went to another funeral (complete with a trumpet playing "Taps" and a gun salute - this is a srs bsns funeral, y'all), and came home with a new car. Well, a different car. New to me. Mine was leaky, so I swapped with my dad (so he could fix it), which means until Easter, I am driving a midlife crisis car (red, sporty, shaped like a penis).

I have NO motivation to do work today. Totally checked out. It was kind of a rough week - worked until 7:30pm on Tuesday, was back in at 8:15am on Wednesday, had a hearing all day, and stayed until 6, when I left to drive home for the funeral. Next week will be equally annoying - we have four hearings, bringing our total to 15 in two months - but after that, hopefully it will slow down.

Anyway, things are looking good for Friday Night Lights, but if it does come back, Tyra and Lyla will be getting "departure arcs" a la Street and Smash this year. Which I'm pretty okay with, actually, because I never liked Lyla, and I feel like Tyra's been repeating the same two storylines since season 1, so it's time to move on. Plus, it will annoy me if no one ever graduates.

Also, watch David Boreanaz dance. Really.

For anyone interested in Rob Thomas' show Party Down, it looks like all the episodes are up on Starz's website. I've only watched the first ep, and wasn't totally blown away, but it was good enough to watch some more.

Stuff

Went to the dentist today - I have cavities. :( Funny, my teeth felt fine before, but now that I know, they hurt.

Anyway, Ted is getting another new girlfriend on HIMYM. DirecTV will be airing canceled shows, and is working on a deal for more Friday Night Lights (yay!). And depression on the Veronica Mars movie front.

I'm trying...

So, this weekend, I managed to catch up on TV (I was about two weeks behind), culminating in me crying like a baby at the Battlestar Galactica series finale. Get thee to a Blockbuster, because you need to watch this show. I may still be a little emotional, but I'm ready to call it the best show ever. Better than Buffy. Better than The West Wing. Better than Friday Night Lights (which also made me cry this week).

And now, for something we haven't done in a while - links! Kiefer talks about 24, and Parks & Recreation didn't do well with focus groups.

Happy birthday to me!

I got a package in the mail today - Megan sent me the Dr. Horrible DVD for my birthday! Thanks, Megan! :)

Went out for St. Patty's Day (Highlight: we went to a gay bar and Jade got hit on by a tranny. Walking out of the bar later, she said, "Uh... I think I have a date tomorrow. I don't know what just happened.") and spent most of today with a headache. I'm starting to see the benefits of being an alcoholic. I've been feeling tired and crappy all the time, but I felt much better when I was out drinking. Then today, I'm tireder and crappier and with a headache on top, and I thought, "You know what would make me feel better? Drinking." However, much like with exercise, seeing the benefits isn't enough motivation to actually do it, so instead of being an alcoholic, I'll go back to sleeping.

Not dead...

...mostly.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, assuming there's anyone still reading. Work is still busy and stressful and horrible. I haven't watched TV since last Wednesday. I'm desperately hoping that things slow down in April, because I don't think I can take much more of this.

My birthday weekend was pretty good. On Friday, I had a work thing at Cabrini College, so I drove home afterward. We had a birthday dinner with my parents, my aunt (my cousin and her boyfriend were supposed to come, but she was sick, so they stayed home), and Megan. Saturday, my parents and I decided to have The Talk about what I should do, given that I don't have a job yet and it doesn't seem likely that I'll get one in this economy. The short version is, I might not be moving to DC because I can't get a job, which means deferring grad school, and my dad's soul-crushing cynicism made me cry ("You probably can't even get hired at Target."). I wasn't even in the mood for shoe-shopping afterward.

That night, my mom and I went to see "The Irish... and How They Got That Way," which was my Christmas present to her. We tried to go to an Irish pub for dinner, but they were all overflowing with St. Patty's Day people in green t-shirts, so when we got home from the show, my mother made her own green beer with food coloring.

On Sunday, we finally got around to the aforementioned shoe-shopping, and then Megan and her dad came over (along with a shiny Corvette to which my dad's reaction was equivalent to dangling catnip in front of Chelsea). Then we had another birthday dinner with my dad's side of the family, and then I went home.
