Scandal!

Oh, there's never a dull moment in PA. Twelve people were indicted yesterday as part of "Bonusgate," on charges of conspiracy, theft, and conflict of interest, among other things. The bulk of it revolved around House Democratic caucus staffers who did campaign work on state-paid time and got bonuses for it. But there's also the awesome motorcycle story, and the job-for-sex scandal. It's a smidgen fishy that all those indicted were Democrats, considering the attorney general is a Republican running for governor in two years, but he promises that more indictments are to come. (Yes!) The timing is all politics, though. This is particularly damaging for Rep. Sean Ramaley, who is running for a Senate seat this year. Er, guess we lost that one.

The really depressing thing is that they're all going down for being really, really stupid. Like, you were so lazy that you couldn't take your incriminating documents home to shred them? You had to do it in the office, on state time, and arouse suspicion about destroying evidence. Also, if you're going to do something illegal, don't make a spreadsheet! And don't send emails - OMG, have we learned nothing about the electronic paper trail? Emails never go away.

It's really not surprising that the Democrats are all going to jail while the Republicans aren't. I'm sure they've done just as much of this as the Dems, but the Republicans are so much smarter than us. They've been getting away with illegal shit for decades.
