That was "fun"

How-dee-do. Sliced open my finger clipping my nails (most accident-prone person ever), but typing anyway. I had an... interesting weekend. Most of it was nice - parents, kitty, Megan, shopping. Then, Sunday was the big Family Event. And, as you many know, my family is crazy.

The day got off to a great start when my mother felt it necessary to "prepare" me. "Don't be surprised at anything rude or inappropriate that they might say," she told me.

"Like what?" I asked, mildly perturbed.

"Like... 'Can you get the Governor to reduce my brother's jail sentence?'" She went on to suggest that a good response would be, "So, how's that Viagra working out for you?"

Fortunately, the criminal element of the family was not invited to the party, so all we had to worry about were "Are you putting on weight?" remarks from Aunt Rose. (Also, one of Aunt Joanne's friends actually said to one of the twins, "Hey, which one are you?" Admittedly, it was hard to tell, since they were dressed in exactly the same dress with their hair done in exactly the same style.)

However, funny quirk about my family - aside from being crazy, NO ONE likes each other. So it was one long bitch session while Aunt Linda complained about my grandmother (with occasional agreement from my mother, who hates her just as much, but talks about it a lot less). Then they served dessert, and oh my god, it was all, "Whose pizzelle recipe do you like better, Grandmom's or Aunt Rose's?" Because they have to have a rivalry about EVERYTHING. And no matter how you answered the question, Grandmom's response was, "Oh, don't tell Aunt Rose." lol

Anyway, I've got some links to keep you busy. First and foremost, American Idol fans can't dial a phone. I make no inferences about their intelligence. *cough*

New Bones starts tonight! Read about a conference call with David Boreanaz, as well as Kristin's coverage of the Paley Center event last week.

Fun fact: Emma Caulfield passed on an audition for Battlestar Galactica and now she's kicking herself because she's a huge fan of the show.

wow, that sounds more interesting than my family gatherings.

although today, at my after school program, one of the teachers told me i looked good, and had lost a lot of weight. um, really, because i really don't think i have. did i look that bad before?
but the kids had noticed i got my haircut, they seemed to approve, and one little boy told me "it's beautiful!" totally made my day. i had been feeling so crappy before that.

Heh, I never know how to respond to "did you lose weight?" when I didn't. It's like, nice that you think so, but does that mean I looked bad before? Generally, I take it to mean wear those clothes more often because they must make you look thinner!

And aww! Kids can be so cute!
